Tilt Doors

Tilt doors are a style of garage door which, while they can still be found out in the world, are outdated and dangerous. We never recommend tilt doors to anyone and refuse to sell them. There are much better, cheaper alternatives which look just as good that do not put anyone’s lives at risk.

The Danger of Tilt Doors

Tilt doors are so dangerous that we simply refuse to sell them. When we do encounter them, we will always encourage the homeowner to replace the door with an alternative, such as a sectional, or an insulated door.

What makes tilt doors dangerous?

The Springs.

Garage door springs or are a part of any garage door set up. They are designed to bear the weight of the garage door to allow the user or the motor to open and close the door while only bearing a fraction of the door’s true weight.

ie, opening a door that weights 150kgs as easily as if it were 10kg.

With the majority of garage door setups, these springs are wound about an axel, such that if the spring snaps, it remains in place, simply spinning about that axel – torsion springs. In the case of tilt doors, these springs are not wound about an axel, but are rather stretched between two open ended hooks – extension springs.

When a tile door’s spring snaps, it becomes a missile as the large steel spring is fired across the garage interior! Broken tilt strings are so powerful that there are many instances of their puncturing the steel of a vehicle’s door, shattering windshields, and definitely have the capacity to kill any human being unfortunate enough to be in their path when the springs eventually break.

Insulated Garage Doors

Insulated garage doors are doors whose panels are made from a special insulating material, preventing the transfer of heat and noise. This ensures that the garage is kept warm during winter, and cool during summer, while also reducing any noise coming from the street, creating a calm, quiet space within the garage.

These doors are ideal for those households which use the garage as another ‘live-in’ space.

Timber-look Garage Doors

Timber-look garage doors are made from steel, but whose colour and finish give the appearance off of wood. These doors give homeowners the opportunity to have that wood-like appearance that looks great with their home, without the price-tag and maintenance that comes with a true wood garage door.

The ‘wood-like’ finish is so convincing that the average individual would need to closely examine the door to discover that these doors are in fact made from steel, not timber.

Commercial Garage Doors

Commercial garage doors are designed specifically for use in industrial contexts, with a focus on strength, security, and reliability, and a long-life span.

These doors are often over-sized, being many times as large as a typical residential door to accommodate trucks, and other large vehicles in the context of an warehouse, factory, hangar, storage facility, or otherwise.
